The current incarnation of the Field's recent animal collections is "What is an Animal?". After you pass under the giant squid model and under the entry arch, you see the very striking underside of the giant Pacific octopus model. I have mixed feelings about the exhibit - lots of style, not as much substance as I'd like, but then, I'm a 40-year-old museum/zoology geek, rather than the museum's target schoolkid and tourist audience. It is an incredible, huge collection with a lot of educational value and historical significance, no matter how it's presented.
